It's All Coming Back To Me Now...
It's been 2 1/2 half years since my last book, Diva's Last Curtain Call, was released. In that time I've written three more books and taken over the publication of my Kendra Clayton mystery series. Now that the release of, Schooled In Lies, book #4 in the series is less than a week away, I'm preparing for the marketing and promotion aspect of being an author. And I've suddenly remembered something I seemed to have forgotten in my 2 1/2 year hiatus...it's a hell of a lot of work! I'm in the middle of writing press releases, buying ads, sending review copies, email blasts, scouting out promo opportunities, etc, etc, etc...
I'm also experiencing something else that I'd all but forgotten about...fear. The fear that this book won't stand up to the three previous books. Fear that my readers won't like it, which owing to readers personal opinions and tastes is something an author is powerless to prevent. But that fear is also balanced by something else...excitement! After all, it's been 2 1/2 years since my last book. It feels really good to have a new book out after all this time. I'm anxious for people to read about Kendra's newest adventure.
And I have my readers to thank for this new book. When I found out that my series was being dropped, I was pretty upset. When there were no other takers for the series, I was prepared to set it aside and work on something new. And I did. But readers kept emailing me and asking me when there was going to be a new Kendra book, which gave me the strength and courage to push forward and release it myself under my own imprint. So, for better or worse, I'm putting this new book forth and hoping you all like it.
Later!
