Paranormal & Urban Fantasy Novels!

I don't know about anyone else, but I love books about things that go bump in the night. Whether it be werewolves, vampires, demons, ghosts, you name it, and I'll read about it. And I've been happy to see that authors of color are getting in on the act and hopping on the bandwagon of today's hottest trend in fiction. In fact, I'm currently working on an urban fantasy novel myself. These books are what's on my TBR pile and check out these gorgeous covers! And if you know of any others that you can recommend, please let me know ; ).

King Maker by Maurice Broaddus-From the drug gangs of downtown Indianapolis, the one true king will arise. The King Arthur myth gets dramatically retold through the eyes of street hustler King, as he tries to unite the crack dealers, gangbangers and the monsters lurking within them to do the right thing. From the drug gangs of downtown Indianapolis, the one true king will arise. The King Arthur myth gets dramatically retold through the eyes of street hustler King, as he tries to unite the crack dealers, gangbangers and the monsters lurking within them to do the right thing. Broaddus' debut is a stunning, edgy work, genuinely unlike anything you've ever read.

Never Cry Werewolf by L. A. Banks-Secret government operative Sasha Trudeau doesn’t like what she’s seeing—a series of brutal and bloody slayings that appear to be wolf-like attacks. It might be the work of a copy cat killer—vampire or Unseelie or some other enemy of the Seelie clan. But while Sasha races to find suspects and motives, the panic level is rising—and the city’s human population is clamoring for an all-out wolf hunt…

Manifest by Artist Arthur-When fifteen-year-old Krystal Bentley moves to Lincoln, Connecticut, her mom's hometown, she assumes her biggest drama will be adjusting to the burbs after living in New York City. But Lincoln is nothing like Krystal imagined. The weirdness begins when Ricky Watson starts confiding in her. He's cute, funny, a good listener-and everything she'd ever want-except that he was killed a year ago.

The Exorsistah: X Returns by Claudia Mair Burney-Now that Emme Vaughn is finally eighteen, she's ready to strut her devil-whooping diva boots into Saint Dymphna's Psychiatric Hospital and spring her mama out. Only problem is a lady named Jane Doe beat her to it...two years ago. Jane is as mysterious as her name, but she holds the key to saving Emme's mama and revealing exactly how Emme got into this evil-fighting business -- if Emme can find her.

Blood Pressure: A Vampire Testament by Terrence Taylor-The second Vampire Testament is set in New York a generation after the end of Bite Marks (2009). Christopher Turner, the baby saved at Bite Marks’ end, comes to the Apple for answers about his past. He meets Aimee, Stephen and Lori’s daughter, and with her discovers that, working together, they have the power to cure vampires. But there are many who value their vampire powers and don’t wish to be cured.

Shadow Blade by Seressia Glass-Kira Solomon's day job is as an antiquities expert, but her true calling is as a Shadowchaser. Trained from youth to be one of the most lethal Chasers in existence, Kira serves the Gilead Commission, dispatching the Fallen who sow discord and chaos. Of course, sometimes Gilead bureaucracy is as much a thorn in her side as anything the Fallen can muster against her. Right now, though, she's got a bigger problem. Someone is turning the city of Atlanta upside down in search of a millennia-old Egyptian dagger that just happens to have fallen into Kira's hands.
